+ WHAT IS A CUSTOM HOME

Most SAS Builders’ homes feature a variety of options. The term “custom home” takes that further, with a residence built to a customer’s specifications. Those specifications typically include the lot choice, a residential floor plan, and exterior and interior details like the selection of colors, materials, fixtures, and appliances that are installed. SAS enjoys collaborating with our customers on custom home projects, as they are the ultimate expression of a homebuyer’s lifestyle and needs.

+ WHAT IS A SEMI-CUSTOM? HOW MANY CHOICES DO I HAVE?

SAS Builders creates neighborhoods with a limited selection of floor plans and features. A home buyer can choose to customize the home by contracting for changes in the floor plan, like converting a bedroom into a home office, or by installing appliances and fixtures that are not part of the development’s standard options.

+ WHAT IS A PRE-DESIGNED HOME?

SAS Builders sometimes develops a single home from scratch, not as a part of a neighborhood development. Depending on when a buyer enters the process, the home may be complete or still at some stage of construction. If the pre-designed (commonly known as a "spec") home is still under construction, a buyer can ask for personalized options, such as interior and exterior paint colors, countertops, tiles and appliances.

+ WHAT IS THE BUILD PROCESS?

The SAS Builders process can be divided into three stages: Pre-Build, Build, and Post-Build.

PRE-BUILD
1 – FIRST MEETING: SAS Builders and the buyer review the process and gather the buyer’s input on desired features
2 – DESIGN: SAS Builders develops plans and specs
3 – SELECTIONS: Buyer selects standard or custom options
4 – PRELIMINARY BUDGET: SAS Builders creates a range of prices based on specs
5 – PROPOSAL PRESENTATION: SAS Builders presents pricing and pre-contract options
6 – FINANCING: Buyer secures necessary loans and signs a contract

BUILD
7 – CONSTRUCTION: SAS Builders builds the home, with frequent updates for the buyer
8 – HOME ORIENTATION: The buyer inspects the finished home to ensure it meets all items on the ‘punch list’

POST-BUILD
9 – COMPLETION: Buyer takes possession of the residence and moves in
10 – WARRANTY: Buyer is protected by a 1 year warranty
